Riflessioni sulla guerra e sul lavoro in Simone Weil

This paper aims to analyze the parallels between work - the daily tool for ensuring oppression - and war - the extraordinary tool -, two forms used by society to oppress individuals, eliminating freedom and thought. It will show the evolution of Weil's thinking in the face of an historical and political situation that would culminate in World War II. It will highlight the importance of the Iliad, which will accompany the transition from pacifism to the awareness of having to face war. Finally, it will show the true nature of work, the activity that guarantees the expression of thought and freedom.
