Abstract
The article examins the role and the meaning of the «Deus deceptor» in Descartes' Meditationes de Prima Philosophia. In this work,Descartes introduces on purpose the «Deus deceptor» in the itinerary of the Meditatio I as the philosophical figure of metaphysical and extreme risk of the human nature and as the argument of a radical uncertainty of the reason in order to test the philosophical hold of its power and to mesure the effectiveness of its statements just through its own strenghts.
