Taking Jean Cavaillès' analyses in Sur la logique et la théorie de la science (1947) as a thread, the article aims to discuss the relationship between formal logic and transcendental logic within the context of the problem of the theory of science. Surveying Cavaillès' analyses and criticisms of Kantian philosophy, its filiation in Brouwer9s epistemology of mathematical intuitionism, and Husserl's phenomenology, it is argued that Cavaillès's objections suggest a historicization of the transcendental that displace the role of subjectivity within mathematical knowledge.
