The present article aims to enucleate the salient features of Pantaleo Carabellese’s critical ontologism in order to suggest the relevance of relating it with the tradition of thought of transcen-dental philosophy. In particular, the intrascendibility of consciousness, hardcore immanentism and the conception of philosophy as effort are interpreted as clear markers of the Italian thinker’s proximity to that deep development of transcendental philosophy that is instituted by Fichte’s Wissen-schaftslehre.
